In this video Dev Khalsa uses his Vitamix to juice raw fruit, including the acai and goji berry, making an absolutely scrumptious smoothie. Raw fruits have a high antioxidant rating and are known to help prevent diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
Dev’s recipe is:
1/2 cup frozen acai berry, 2 whole frozen bananas, 1 cup frozen raspberries, 3-4 fresh pitted dates, 3 cups almond milk, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1/2 cup of Young Living’s Ningxia Red juice (includes the juice of the goji berry). Protein powder can be added to this mix if you prefer. Blend and enjoy!
Antioxidant foods are rated with an ORAC value, an acronym which stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity. This rating gives a relative idea of how effective the food is as an antioxidant. In this recipe we have:
- Acai berry 102,700
- Banana 879
- Dates 3900
- Goji berry 25,300
- Raspberries 1,220
- Vanilla extract 7,000

As well as the antioxidant value the fruit provides in this drink, this little meal provides a highly alkaline source of food. Your body absolutely requires that you eat alkaline forming foods to keep your blood’s pH out of the acid range. When your diet is high in acid forming foods your body will literally rob calcium from your bones to buffer the excess acid. Click here for a chart of acid versus alkaline foods.
I use organic produce wherever possible for some pretty obvious reasons. This summer I spoke with a grower at a local farmers market who told me that after he sprays pesticides on his broccoli crop he is not allowed to even walk in his field for three days. Need I say any more? Please support your local organic grower.
Organic foods are also more nutritious. In 2007 the results of a study funded by the European Union showed that organic fruit and vegetables have up to 40 per cent more antioxidants than non-organically grown produce. Even greater contrasts were found for milk, with organic milk containing up to 60 per cent more antioxidants and healthy fatty acids.

- Many people say that one of the best side effects of raw food juicing is they feel happier!
May there be peace in our hearts.
