Meditation Using The Shaman’s Rattle

In science the linear, logical, predictable and box-like world of Isaac Newton is now officially dead and consigned to the dust bin of history. In its place the new science is showing us a universe that is utterly wild, fantastic, chaotic and bizarre.

We humans have a number intelligences:

  • the Newton-like analytical, logical and linear left brain

and the others which could be described as chaotic or non-linear:

  • the feminine, creative, imaginative and spontaneous right brain,
  • the visionary pineal gland,
  • the heart intelligence (The heart actually has its own nervous system and even has left and right hemispheres.),
  • and the intelligence of the large intestine. (The gut’s brain is known as the enteric nervous system. One half of all our nerve cells are located within the gut. Ever have a “gut” feeling about something?)

The logical left brain which we use so much to navigate around in our daily lives likes to dominate and suppress all the others. It feels unsafe when confronted with the infinite and non-predictable.

The truth is the awesome totality which we are born into is a world which the left brain cannot possibly comprehend.

Don Juan, the Yaqui Indian shaman in Carlos Castaneda’s books, said that in order to “see” you have to first stop the world. Stopping the world is when the flow of interpretation and preconceptions of the left brain is interrupted to allow for a new perception.

In the video the rattle will momentarily stop the flow of the left brain and allow you to just experience.

I am grateful for your comments and feedback.

May there be peace in our hearts.

May there be peace for all humanity.

May there be perfect peace on earth.

  1. You’re awesome and much appreciate dear soul <3

  2. Hey! I love listening to this video. I’d love to know where you got your rattle from, if youve gotten it online that is?

  3. Dearest Dev Khalsa,
This is my second try to email you – so I am not sure if the first email got sent because my bird walked across my keyboard and everything I had written disapeared 🙂 I just wanted to thank you for your blog and the wonderful vibes I got from reading it. Especially the Shamanic drum and the 5 min. soundbite! The drum really worked in quietening the mind! I was amazed. I checked out the soundbite but the link is broken. I still found the guy who produced it, he calls it “blissfull sounds” or so ($ 97 for his collection – a bit out of my range though……). Anyway, I been thinking for a few days now to email you. I mean, I am feeling compelled to do it 🙂 But I also have something for you, hoping it does not impose, but I am taken by it and started doing it along with my meditation. So, here it is, please check it out. It’s from Russia but has english subtitles and very to understand. I can send you some more links if you like to research it some more. I think it will enrich your life too 🙂
    Wishing you all the best,

  4. I’m fascinated by the intelligence of the gut. I have only recently learned that Irritable Bowel Syndrome is just a name they give to people with anxiety/depression who have persistent stomach issues. I’ll be looking through your archives Dev, I like your style and your attitude!

  5. Wow Dev, That was cool!
